Julie, a co-owner of Four Paws Academy, has been a professional dog trainer since 1988. She holds a Professional Membership in the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers). She was among the group to take the first ever APDT Certification Exam for dog trainers, thus earning her the CPDT (Certified Pet Dog Trainer) title. Julie is an active Member of the Massachusetts Federation of Dog Club & Responsible Dog Owners and is also an AKC Rally Judge.

Julie and her husband breed and exhibit Miniature and Standard Poodles, under the kennel name Rembrandt, in conformation, obedience, rally, and agility. They have been breeding and exhibiting their own dogs since 1983 and have produced 42 breed champions, including several nationally ranked All-Breed and Specialty Best in Show winners and many obedience and agility titleholders. Julie and John are the breeders of MACH3, ADCH Rembrandt Nederlander (aka "Dutch"). Dutch is owned and trained by Ellen DeWolf and was the first Poodle (all varieties) to attain both MACH and ADCH titles. His littermate, trained and handled by Julie, Ch. Rembrandt Dreams of Glory, CD, RE, TP, R1MCL is a multiple Group winner and earned her APDT Rally-O title -- R1MCL (Rally Level I Magna Cum Laude) and her AKC Rally Novice, AKC Rally Advanced, AKC Rally Excellent titles in nine trials with several perfect scores.

Julie is currently training in obedience, Rally obedience, competing with several conformation dogs, and competing with her Therapy Dog BISS Ch. Rembrandt Tales of Glory, CD, RE, AX, AXJ, TP, CGC, TDI in Rally and Obedience and competing with Rembrandt Helbent To Dream, AX, AXJ, TDI in agility.
